Exactly one year ago today, Ryan and I got our wish we had been wanting for years…we found out we were pregnant! I had stopped at the doctor’s office for blood work that morning and spent the next several hours checking my phone every few minutes. Dr. Loret de Mola called me in the afternoon and I remember his words so clearly. He said, “How do you feel about twins?” The blood work numbers were high, which meant there was a chance there could be more than one baby. Boy were we in for the shock of our lives! My one regret from that day–I never took a pregnancy test. For years, I clipped coupons for pregnancy tests (I’m frugal and they are expensive!), since every month I would go through at least one or two. But, it would always show I was not pregnant. Ironically, when I finally became pregnant, I never took a test for fun!
Our first ultrasound was when I was 6 weeks pregnant. We had a two week period where Mr. Skry and I would ponder whether I was actually carrying twins. We remained cautiously optimistic, knowing that a miscarriage is common in the first trimester. I know I’ve shared this story before, but I want to share it again for those of you finding my blog recently. The ultrasound tech began to look for a baby, or babies. She found “Baby A”, then “Baby B”. We were ecstatic that God was blessing us with twins. The next thing we know, the tech said, “and there is a Baby C”! My jaw dropped to the ground. I looked over at Ryan and he had the biggest grin of his life. Our doctor walked in the room and asked the tech if there were, in fact, two babies. When he heard triplets, his jaw dropped too. The chance of an embryo splitting in our situation was extremely rare, we’re talking a 2-5 percent chance. We fell in love with all three instantly. Seeing their little heart beats that day is a memory I will never forget. It was at that moment, when I first felt like a mother.
Miss Peyton is 7 1/2 months old now and changing everyday. She absolutely LOVES to smile! She either smiles or gets extremely dramatic, aka “diva”…there seems to be no in between. She is doing great at sleeping through the night, which means she is ready to cuddle when she wakes up in the morning (my favorite part of the day!). She is so alert and looks around at everything. We have two frames in our living room with pictures of Abby and Parker, so Peyton greets them every day. She loves looking at her brother and sister!
My mom came to town a few weeks ago to help out and spoil Peyton. It’s so much fun watching our parents with their granddaughter, especially since they only see her every few months. The last time she was in town, Peyton was about 6 pounds and still hooked up to oxygen. Now, she looks like your typical, healthy baby! What a special time to have three generations of Skrysak women all together. My mom and I started chatting about what names her and my dad should have. I grew up with a “grandma” and a “Mia”. Any ideas for grandparent names?
We are off to the Nicu clinic today for another check up. So that means an afternoon of visiting her favorite nurses! I’ve been busy putting the finishing touches on Peyton’s nursery, since I will be heading back to work soon. I’ll share how we are incorporating Abby and Parker into the decorations in next week’s blog. Look for a special Valentine’s Day greeting from Peyton tomorrow on Facebook!

[…] How is that even possible? They transferred only two embryos, so that didn’t seem right. As our doctor explained, one embryo split, creating two identical babies. It’s a moment in life that I will never forget. The shock was visible across my face, while […]

Peyton is such a cute and happy baby. I love her smile and all the faces she makes. She looks ornery, which is my favorite characteristic. 😉 Continued blessings to you and your family.
Happy Valentine’s Day Skry Family!!
Peyton is just too cute!!
Hey Stacey! My name is Aaron Zapata and I have been following your journey for a long time now! My wife and I are foster parents to 4 beautiful kiddos! 1 of which we got about 8 months ago from the NICU! He was born addicted to cocaine and heroin. We have watched our little premie grow and develop in so many ways and anytime we doubted that he would improve in some way, God showed us through Miss P that it was all going to be okay!
Thank you for your blogs and testimony! Praying for y’all often!
Also, my mom and dad have the grandparents name of Lolli and Pop! I think it’s adorable!
I tried to get my inlaws to be Grammy and Grumpy but my father-in-law didn’t like his name haha!
I have also heard of grandma’s being called GG which stands for Gorgeous Grandma! Haha! Just to name a few! 🙂
Hello,
Our son calls my husband’s parents Oma and Opa (they are German), he calls my dad and stepmom MeMe and Poppi, and my mom and stepdad GamGam and Papa. Hope you have a wonderful day and happy Valentine’s to you guys!!
I love reading your blogs and look forward to them, and all the picture of Princess Peyton. I love seeing her sweet expressions and all her cute little outfits
My grandson named me his mom called me grammy but he called me giggi and that is what I am.
My four year old niece calls my parents “Maw maw” and “Paw paw”. Haha!
Peyton is such a pretty and happy baby. 🙂 I look forward to your updates.
My grandchildren call me Mimi. I didn’t really care what I was called, but my oldest just started calling me that, out of the blue and I love it! I was shopping for Valentines Day cards the other day and kept hearing a child calling “Mimi” and couldn’t help but turn around (even though mine are teens and older LOL).
Love the photos! Keep them coming. It is so exhilarating to watch her progress. She is an adorable diva and it is so amazing to watch her transformation as she grows and matures. Love you all. Hugs and kisses for Miss Peyton!
Stacey, I look forward to this blog weekly and for Peyton’s latest pictures. It is so heartwarming to see the love and devotion that you have for your two special Angels, as well as the Angel you hold daily. Simply said, it makes my heart happy for you and your family. Best Wishes always <3

Hello sweet Peyton!!!
I remember these milestones with my little preemie too….Just wait until she is 23 and yaks your head off and makes you crazy!! 🙂 I would say stay with the standard good ole Grandma and Grandpa – In our families case – we also added their first name being the Grandma or Grandpa…Just in case they were in the same room as each other….. Have a GREAT VALENTINE’S DAY!!!
Happy Valentines Day to you all . Peyton sure is growing and looking so healthy.Glad to hear you will be back to work soon.Love the updates..
What a cute little Valentine! She is growing and filling out so. What a sweetie. Have a great day and weekend.
Stacy, I love your blog! I never experienced the issues that you did when it came to pregnancy. I can’t imagine going through what you and Mr. Skry have been through. I love watching Miss Peyton grown. She is adorable. Regarding grandparent names, I am called GG or Grandma. For awhile, I was nandma. That was because they couldn’t say grandma. I say let Peyton decide. She’ll come up with a name.
Our grandson, Jonah came up with Yaya and Papa. I found out later Yaya is actually Greek for grandma. We are not Greek. But it is what he came up with and we do have the video where he first said it. It remains so special to me. I vote for whatever comes out of Peyton’s mouth.
Love the Valentine pics. She has the biggest smile and is so cute. I hate all the designer names for grandparents. Just call them Grandma and Grandpa, that’s what they are. It should be an honor to be called that! Many of the people who I know thought they were “too young” to be grandparents so they came up with the alternative.
Valantine greetings to you & sweet Peyton I,m from Tulsa lived in Decatur where my 3 kiddos were born. Currently my license plate says MEMAW 7 !!!!!!!! Says it all
Good evening, little sweetheart! I would love to hold and cuddle with you. You are such a gift from God. Keep smiling for Mom and Dad. You are beautiful inside and out.
I love seeing these pictures of the Princess Peyton. She truly is a miracle baby. All my best to you Stacey and your family. My grandkids call me Nana – and I love it!
Great post! I LOVE seeing that ultra sound pic! Absolutely incredible!!! And the furrowed brow bath pic is my new fav—despite all the AMAZING smiley ones. What a chunky bundle of personality! XO

A Happy Valentine’s Day to your little Sweetie! She is a precious doll! My husband and I were named Ma’am and PawPaw by our oldest grandson, who will be 31 in April. It was always so funny when someone heard this little boy saying Ma’am. We are looking forward to our first great grandchild (a little girl) in June. Another generation for Ma’am and PawPaw to love.
We have 21 grand kids , when they were little we were called Nana and Papa. As they got older some changed it to Grandma and Grandpa and others left it at Nana and Grandpa.
