We all know how far Peyton has come. From barely a pound at birth, now tipping the scales somewhere in the 15lb range. But for a lot of people, it’s hard to imagine her actual size. Parker dipped down to 14 oz at his smallest, just 2 oz bigger than a can of soda. Peyton was only two ounces larger. I got a lot of feedback on the pictures I posted last week of P’s footprints at birth and now. The comparison really puts it into perspective. That led me to look through old pictures, reminiscing over how far Miss P has come. When you look at “then” and “now”, it’s apparent that this girl is growing! Just look at her rubber duck below. We started using that monthly to show her size. At first, the duck was nearly half the size of her. But, by her one year birthday, Peyton wanted to eat and play with it!
Princess Peyton is long and lean at one year old! While she easily fits into 6 month clothes with her legs, the rest of her body is still fitting into the 3-6 month size. Check out the pictures below of her first clothing. She used to fit into doll clothes and then preemies sizes for months! And there sure are benefits to her petite frame. Not only do we get to enjoy the “baby stage” in slow motion, we also get a lot of use out of her toys and baby items. For most people, that first infant carrier is put in storage well before the first year….but we’re still using it for P!
I think one of the biggest shocks for friends that visit is seeing the first diaper that P&P wore in the Nicu. It really shows people how tiny they actually were. The diaper is smaller than the palm of my hand, smaller than an iPhone. And these were even too big for my children. The nurses would fold them over to fit. Peyton spent most of the year in size one diapers, but is finally fitting into size 2. Because we were expecting triplets, friends and family had stocked up on diapers for us. Since we only brought one child home, those diapers lasted more than a year! I just paid for our first box of diapers this week (Target has an amazing deal right now!).
One other shock for a lot of people was seeing Ryan’s wedding ring placed on P&P’s arms, obviously giant. Before Parker passed away, our photographer took a picture of him with the wedding ring, now too small to fit over his hand. He was about 2 1/2 pounds when he joined Abby in heaven (and yes, my husband ring is cracked…oops!).
Below are some other fun pictures to look at. Our Peyton may be small, but she is mighty. Those giant headbands now seem to fit, and the moments of her being placed in the chair for a picture are now filled with a squirming toddler. Peyton isn’t walking yet, or even crawling for that matter, but she is close. But one thing I’ve learned in the past year–don’t rush it. We’re cherishing every moment and enjoying the slow motion of our baby blossoming into a beautiful toddler. (Not to mention the chaos that will begin once she starts crawling all over the house!)

Peyton has came a long way, and you get to enjoy all of the “baby” stuff longer than others. Just cherish all those moments and one of these days they will be gone. You are right don’t rush her to crawl or walk, then off she goes and you will be running after her. Love the pictures and the updates. Give her a little hug from her “BIG” fan club…
So blessed! Love hearing how she is doing! ❤️
She has such a beautiful smile. I have loved reading about your children over the last year
My grandtwins were so small when born 3 months early their first diaper was smaller in size than a dollar bill folded in half. It’s really eerie to compare and think back how really small they were but today at almost 5 they are now tall for their age and doing just fine.
Hi Miss Peyton, Loved all the pictures
and seeing how you have grown into a beautiful girl .Love the blog and all the pictures. God Bless
I love looking at her pictures, I myself have a little miracle man (Parker) at home and love looking back at how far we have come. September he will be a year. I also have nephew 2 1/2 years that at his smallest was 14 oz. God bless you guys and your journey.
It truly is a miracle…from the first pic’s to today…WOW. She is such a beauty and the pic in the chair looks like she’s just about ready to climb over the side, keep your running shoes on cause she is probably gonna “take off” any day now.
