It’s been a busy month filled with so much holiday joy…hard to believe it’s nearly 2015! I couldn’t finish out the year without inviting you into our home for the holidays. We had a wonderful Christmas with my family (and a pre-Christmas celebration with the in-laws last month). In my industry, the news never stops. So getting a holiday off is reason enough to celebrate!
My mom and dad arrived from California, and boy were they freezing! A funny side story–My parents grew up in the Midwest and met at Bradley University in Illinois. But you would never know it by their hilarious mannerisms…they definitely have warmed up with the California weather over the decades! We didn’t venture out too much, but when we did, they were bundled up in layers.
As my mother is probably reading this, I’m sure she is thinking, “I can’t believe Stacey posted that picture of me and dad!” So, here’s another one…an adorable pic of them from my wedding 5-6 years ago. (We barely took any pictures of us, only Peyton!)
Miss P is still too young to understand the holidays, so we didn’t go to great lengths to hide her presents. She actually ignored the tree for the most part, barely snooping before Santa arrived. My dad was in charge of putting together the big gift and I think it brought back plenty of memories from 30+ years ago. Toys have not gotten any easier to put together over the years! Peyton was in awe of her new toys. She still hasn’t made her way through all of them yet. I think we will be rotating them in and out over the months, so that she can enjoy each one…otherwise it’s a bit too overwhelming for her.
All in all, we were so blessed this year. We were completely spoiled by our parents, friends and extended family, who showered Peyton with love. And I can’t forget the amazing triplet community. I posted a few pictures below from some fellow 2013 triplet moms. Our group has such a close bond, since many of us met when we were newly pregnant with our trios. In addition to personalized ornaments, we received this adorable wall art with the names Parker, Peyton and Abby. I found a perfect place in our bedroom for it, so I wake up every morning to my children’s names. And one friend even sent Peyton the Princess Cozy Coupe. I think P was trying to say, “Hey lady, hand over the keys!”
I’ll leave you with a final thank you of 2014. It’s been a great year for my family; one of healing and growth. Sure the holidays had some difficult moments. I wish I could say that time heals all wounds, but our second Christmas without Parker and Abby was just as tough as the first. But there are no complaints, it’s all part of life. We learn how to cope and how to heal over time. I’m taking a few days off of work this week to watch my Oregon Ducks in the first ever College Football Playoff. Peyton and I will be cheering on the Ducks in the Rose Bowl and enjoying the last of my favorite sport for the season. Happy New Year to each of you and thanks for coming along for the ride this year. I have some big goals for myself in 2015 and for this blog…so look for a new post in the coming week or two.
