As we prepare to overstuff ourselves with food, Thanksgiving is also a time to reflect on what we’re thankful for. I glanced back at my blog, Perfectly Peyton, from two years ago and I’m blown away by how much has changed. Peyton is a completely different little human being; oxygen and medical issues are now distant memories. Two years ago, I was on an 8 month hiatus from work, now I’m at a new television station. But the biggest takeaway from two years ago was a common theme: always looking at the glass half full. It didn’t matter how difficult our lives had become, my family stayed positive in light of the bittersweet year we endured.
I don’t think much has changed in the past two years. Ryan and I still remain just as optimistic these days. And the more I think about it, the more I realize that our “glass is half full” approach is why we’re doing so well today. We still have our moments of grief and missing Abby and Parker, but we are truly happy in life. I have a loving husband, an oh-so-adorable toddler (and a fur child!), a job that I absolutely love…and just as important, are all of YOU. Our friends, family and supporters around the world help my family stay so optimistic. It may be a phone call from a childhood friend, an email from a viewer, or a hand written letter from someone who has gone through an experience similar to mine. All of these people help me in one way or another. So, thank YOU for the infinite support and the constant comments, messages and emails. My family has a lot to be thankful for this year!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I hope it’s filled with food, laughter and love. With no family nearby, our holiday will be quaint with me, Ryan, Peyton and a 13 lb turkey! I’m looking forward to a day off from the news and lounging in a food coma, sporting pants with an elastic waistband. And who knows, you may see me out and about shopping come Black Friday–I do love a good deal!
