It’s the question I get the most these days, now that we’re closing in on the third trimester of my pregnancy. Do you have a name picked out?
So much goes into picking out the perfect choice and it’s something I’ve been thinking about ever since we first found out we were expecting. Six years ago, my husband and I hadn’t even discussed names for our triplets. I was on hospital bed rest and we were counting down each day until the babies would be viable. We didn’t want to jinx anything.
After losing our first daughter shortly after birth, followed by a near death experience, I spent the first few days of my children’s lives in the ICU. By day three, we finally named our children—Abigail, Peyton and Parker.
This time around, I told my husband that we need to discuss names before our baby is born. Our surviving triplet, Peyton, has been quite vocal, giving us her two cents on what we should name our child. It’s hilarious to hear what young children think!
So a drum roll please…. The name of our baby is…
SPARKLES!!!
That’s the name chosen by our daughter. When anyone asks her, Sparkles is the definitive answer. Her original choice was “Mommy Junior”, so you could say that Sparkles is an upgrade.
Just this week, we sat around our dinner table talking about names. We mentioned a few with our daughter, yet she is still set on Sparkles. We at least convinced her that Sparkles is a better nickname than legal name…and she agreed.
All kidding aside, it’s been such a joy watching our daughter through this pregnancy. She never expected to get another sibling and to see her excitement brings us so much happiness. It sure helps to get me through the difficult days of pregnancy after loss.
My husband and I have spent a lot of time chatting about this special bonus baby. We have narrowed down the choices and we know whatever name we choose will fit our baby girl perfectly, just like six years ago when our triplets were born.
What are the crazy names your child has come up with for a sibling? And any name suggestions for our rainbow baby?
I love the name Emily or Emma
Faith or Paisleigh would be cute.
LOL! My daughter named her little sister Sparkles Jumpy Star! My husband and I called her Sparkles for short but she called her Sparkles Jumpy Star my whole pregnancy. Since we weren’t sharing her real name until she was born everyone called her Sparkles. We put a sign up in her nursery that says she leaves a little sparkle wherever she goes.
Both of them are rainbow babies. ❤ ? ? ?
Congrats!
