Can we make a pact as the NFL season begins?
As the TV cameras pan to Travis Kelce’s suite, and as you hear a collective groan from some select football fans, let’s embrace Taylor Swift.
Let’s change the narrative.
Forget the “Dads, and Brads, and Chads”. This football loving family is more than happy to see glimpses of Taylor Swift at the game, especially when you have little Swifties cheering next to you on the couch.
There was plenty of jeers, not cheers, last year as people counted the number of times the networks showed Taylor Swift, but I think it’s time to throw out the “she’s a distraction” banter.
Her appearances at NFL games not only boosted viewership, but introduced an entirely new audience of young girls to the sport.
So, as we enter a new season, my two girls will be sitting next to their dad, asking questions and cheering on as they sport their “Go Taylor’s Boyfriend” t-shirts. And countless other young girls will be bonding with their fathers, embracing the NFL: ‘Taylor’s Version’.
My girls are officially in their football era, right along with their music idol.
(And this football obsessed mom is cheering on the couple in between checking her fantasy football matchup…I mean, who doesn’t love the all-American love story?!?)
